CVAP Counselling

What Is CVAP?

CVAP stands for the Crime Victim Assistance Program. It’s a program in British Columbia that provides funding for people who have experienced a crime or traumatic event.

If you’re approved, CVAP can cover counselling sessions so you can access support without worrying about the financial cost.

Counselling through CVAP

I am an approved CVAP counsellor in British Columbia . I provide trauma-informed counselling and EMDR therapy for individuals accessing CVAP in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and virtually across BC.

My approach focuses on:

  • understanding your nervous system and responses
  • working at a pace that feels manageable
  • supporting both emotional and body-based experiences
  • creating a non-judgmental and supportive space

You don’t need to come in “ready” or knowing exactly what you want to work on. We can figure that out together.

Who Is CVAP Counselling For?

CVAP counselling may be available if you’ve experienced things like:

  • physical or emotional abuse
  • sexual assault
  • domestic violence
  • other traumatic or distressing events

You don’t have to “have it all figured out” to access support. Many people come in feeling overwhelmed, unsure where to start, or not even certain how they feel.

What Does CVAP Counselling Look Like?

Counselling through CVAP is similar to regular therapy, but funded through the program.

Sessions are a space where you can:

  • talk through what you’ve been carrying
  • understand how your body and mind have responded
  • learn ways to feel more grounded and supported
  • go at your own pace

There’s no pressure to share everything right away. The focus is on creating a space that feels safe enough for you.

How to Get Started with CVAP Counselling

If you already have a CVAP claim number, you can begin counselling with an approved provider.

If you’re not sure where you are in the process, that’s okay too. I can help guide you in understanding next steps.
